Squash doesn't transplant well so after the frost has passed direct sow seed about 1/2-1" deep and 2-3 feet apart if you're planting them in a garden bed.
If you are planting them in a hill, you’ll want to plant 3-4 seeds together and then mound up the dirt. take 3-4 seeds and place them together. This is recommended for those planting in the north. It keeps seeds higher off the ground which helps with warmth. Hills should be 5-6 feet apart.
